Description

Planning for Elders in the Central City (PECC) was founded in 1990 by a consortium of senior agencies and community organizations. Funding was provided by the Bay Area Independent Elders Program, San Francisco Foundation, Henry J. Kaiser Foundation, Koret Foundation, and Marin Community Foundation.

The foundation offers programs that utilize community organizing and promote advocacy and education. Programs include The Healthcare Action Team that uses theater, song, storytelling and other popular education and participatory research models to raise awareness of the growing need for quality services and housing in the community.

The senior survival school is an educational program that trains seniors and adults with disabilities to effectively access vital community resources, like transportation, housing and healthcare and to exercise their rights when they do.
