The 2022 Senior Quality of Life Report - powered by TMT - is a critical tool to ensure that we use data-driven approaches for community health improvement for our seniors in Washoe County.
Access to population-level data is crucial to empower local leaders and community organizations to create results-based strategies that are data-driven.
The Senior Quality of Life Report is divided into six sections.

Seniors in northern Nevada face a staggering epidemic of loneliness and isolation. In fact, suicide rates for seniors in our community are more than double the national average. To find out more about how seniors in Washoe County feel about their circumstances - particularly our most vulnerable seniors in in the lowest socioeconomic region of 89502 - we engaged University of Nevada Reno's Survey Research Center (SRC) to conduct a survey on behalf of the HELLO Project. The results of the survey, along with methodologies and other critical information can be found at the link below.

COMPASSION. CONNECTION. COMMUNITY.
HELLO is a community of volunteers, businesses, and uncommonly kind people who’ve come together to help enhance the lives of our elders. It’s a mission we achieve through conversations, connections, and education that nurtures healthy, positive and active engagement.
HELLO is a conduit of kindness and information, connecting individuals and businesses with elders and providing tools for community members to engage with and illuminate the lives of our elders. We operate on the intent of making life better, first and foremost for those elders we’re reaching out to, but also to those volunteers who go forth with compassion and answers.

We’re linking arms with partners who share the same dedication and commitment to enhancing the lives of our community’s elders. This collaboration strengthens the purpose of The HELLO Project and helps further its reach to those in need of our assistance.
The HELLO Project was the 2019/2020 recipient of the $250,000 BUILD Health Challenge®. The Build Health Challenge reduces health disparities and creates opportunities to improve community health by strengthening community connections and access to resources.
This local force aligns diverse community leaders to provide insights and to advocate for and enhance the region’s goal to ensure an inclusive and sustainable culture and environment of health.
Renown Health, the region’s premier health network, is matching The HELLO Project grant alongside other pledged funding from the community, bringing the current support for The HELLO Project to $580,000.
The Washoe County Health District protects and enhances the well-being and quality of life for all Washoe County residents. It is nationally accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board and has jurisdiction over all public health matters in Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County.
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada provides food for families in need through more than 150 partner agencies across northern Nevada and the eastern slope of the Sierra in California. We serve more than 107,000 people every month, almost half of whom are children and seniors.
The Food Bank grew from a small pantry to a regional distribution center. We incorporated in 1983 and have operated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization for more than 35 years. Last fiscal year, we provided more than 20 million meals for neighbors who faced hunger.
We are a proud member of Feeding America, a network of more than 200 food banks and the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, providing more than 4 billion meals to nearly every community in the U.S.
The Nevada Center for Surveys, Evaluation, and Statistics (CSES) strives to increase the quality and quantity of interdisciplinary research by providing academic researchers, businesses and organizations with expertise in survey design, program evaluation, and statistical analysis. CSES also serves as a liaison between campus departments and centers, as well as between the University community and public and private organizations, to foster collaborative research activities, outreach activities and Nevada economic development.
CSES combines three prior individual research service centers: Center for Research Design and Analysis (CRDA), Nevada Center for Health Statistics and Informatics (NCHSI) and the Center for Program Evaluation (CPE), into a stronger, more comprehensive, single center. The center can handle all your data requests including survey data collection, program evaluation, and statistical analysis. Three main labs are equipped to assist departments, organizations and individuals in accessing the data resources and evaluation tools they need to produce quantitative and qualitative outcomes.
