Antimony micrograms in one liter of water (ug/L) concentration in Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) drinking water.
The Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) acceptable for human consumption is less than 6 micrograms per liter (ug/L). The level of antimony is consistently well below the MCL set by the EPA for safe drinking water.
Antimony is a metal found in natural deposits as ores containing other elements. It has been used in fire retardants, batteries, paint pigments and glass/ceramics.
TMWA is required by federal, state and local water regulations to monitor and meet regulatory standards for more than one hundred contaminants. All water delivered to its customers is treated and has been in compliance with all EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and State of Nevada standards and regulations.
