Tetrachloroethylene micrograms in one liter of water (ug/L) concentration in Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) drinking water.
The Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) acceptable for human consumption is less than 5 micrograms per liter (ug/L). The level of tetrachloroethylene is consistently well below the MCL set by the EPA for safe drinking water.
Tetrachloroethylene is a manufactured chemical that is widely used as a degreasing solvent or a dry-cleaning agent.
TMWA is required by federal, state and local water regulations to monitor and meet regulatory standards for more than one hundred contaminants. All water delivered to its customers is treated and has been in compliance with all EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and State of Nevada standards and regulations.
